Vanessa closed up the library then headed to Saks. She waited outside for Bri to show up as she idly flipped through her latest Stephen King novel.

She gave a sharp whistle as she got closer, waving. "So I've been told that I'm not allowed to wear heels with whatever dress I get," she said with a playful roll of her eyes as she walked up to Vanessa. "How much of a tragedy is that?"

She pulled the gray and silver mask from her bag and handed it over to Vanessa. "My aunt had this old costume box stashed up in the attic. I was rifling through it out of boredom and found it," she said with a wide grin. "Perfect for a fallen angel theme, you think?" Bri shrugged, laughing. "So what's yours look like?"

"It's a full faced mask." Vanessa shrugged as they walked into the store. She rolled her eyes, "It was Andy's idea. Something about it's better for keeping my identity a secret. Do you think he's going with Miss Hastings?"

"You mean it's the closest he can get to sticking you in a burlap bag," she teased. "And I'm pretty sure they're at least going to dance. Maybe you should drop a hint that even chaperons need dates to him?"

Vanessa thought for a second and shrugged, "I suppose that proposal would only be mildly insulting." She grinned, "I put my dress on hold here. I know it's out of my usual price range, but I wanted to look good when we take that bitch down. Besides, the mask belonged to my grandmother and I figured I owed it to her to compliment the mask with a dress that she would approve of."

Bri laughed as she pulled a silver dress out to hold against her body. It was a slinky silver mermaid-style dress and she hated it. She made a face at Vanessa before putting the dress back and tugging out another. Long, backless, and a shiny silver, the beading matched the look of her mask. "What do you think?"
