So.... About last night.....

Vanessa sighed and looked over at Nate. He was still asleep. Vanessa couldn't help but feel guilty and fully responsible for what happened. After all, she was the one that egged on Blair.

Shifting in the hospital bed, he woke to the dull burning of that pulled muscle or whatever the hell it was in his chest. With a groan, he opened his eyes and tried to sit up.

Vanessa looked over at him. "You're awake." She breathed a sigh of relief. "Nate, I'm so sorry, I didn't think that she'd actually do anything. I thought she was just bluffing..." She trailed off and looked at him.

He nodded and raised the IV-free arm to rub at the aching spot in his chest. "I remember shoving you. Sorry about that by the way. I'm glad you're not hurt." He frowned and looked her in the eye. "What happened with Blair?"

"She what?" He almost bolted from the bed but was stopped by wires and tubes and the dull pain flaring in his chest to something harsh and hot and awful. "Is Haley okay?"

Vanessa nodded. "She's fine. After it happened, she was hysterical. They sedated her and kept her overnight to make sure she was okay. Jack's with her."

"Dumb things are kind of what I'm known for, remember," he laughed. "And I wasn't just going to let her shoot you. But," he said, bringing her hand up to his lips, "don't stress over it. No one knew if she was actually going to shoot. I didn't think that physical violence was her style and I don't think anyone else did either."
