Spencer sat at her desk grading papers. It was Friday and Spencer didn't feel like going home just yet. So, instead, she sat in her classroom listening to Journey and grading papers.

He had every intent of just slipping into the room, grabbing the paperback he'd left, and slipping back out. Really, he did. But seeing the woman sitting there at the desk, after hours, working and listening to classic rock as she graded papers was a touch too much for him to ignore.

"That sounds boring as all hell," he said with a wince. He walked to the desk he'd been shoved into earlier and grabbed his book. A moment's hesitation and then he sat, flipping open to the dog-eared page from earlier. "Let me know when you're done."

He stifled a laugh. "Going deaf, teach?" He turned the desk in front of him sideways so he could put his feet up. "Let me know when you're done," he repeated slowly, almost playfully (which he wouldn't admit to under torture).

"Well, with the Princess on her little excursion down South," he said with a touch of bitterness, "I'm left with a bit of free time until she gets back and I can scare the hell out of her." He might have brightened a bit at that last part but he quickly squashed it. "Besides, she said she needed a break and a bit of normalcy so a break and a bit of normalcy is what I'm giving her."

Spencer looked up a bit shocked. That definitely wasn't what she was expecting. "Wow. That's very nice of you." She sighed and threw down her pen. "If I read about Andrew Johnson's impeachment one more time, I'm going to scream."

He gave a quick nod. "Seems the Princess' work ethic has been rubbing off on the kid," he conceded. It didn't mean he liked the boy though. "So why not take a break," he repeated quickly.
