Nate hovered outside of Ms. Hasting's office door for a few moments before knocking. He wanted to just leave but he'd see her in class the next day and odds were, ditching this meeting would make whatever issues she wanted to discuss worse.

Spencer didn't even look up from her grading as she said, "Come in." When the door opened she looked at Nate and smiled. "Have a seat. I just need to finish grading Jessica's paper." She cringed at the last part of her sentence and promptly placed a C- on Jessica's paper.

He sat his backpack at his feet before settling in the chair in front of her desk. "So what's up?"

She pulled his paper out of the stack and handed it to him. "The paper was extremely well written, well thought out, and well executed. However, while I know you and Haley are close, you two don't share a brain. You're much more practical than she is and she has a very distinct writing style."

He stared at the paper in his hands and sighed. There was really no point in lying. "She helped," he admitted. "Editing and stuff." Heavy on the editing.

Spencer nodded, "I know. But I'm going to give you a second chance in writing the paper. Have it on my desk by Friday and no questions will be asked."

His brow furrowed. "This one..." He sighed. "Mine's not going to be like this." It wouldn't be as well-worded, as good.
